Pre-Abortion Considerations

Before Your Abortion

If you are considering abortion or planning to use the Abortion Pill (medical abortion), your first step is to schedule a Full Pregnancy Evaluation which includes a free ultrasound to answer these four essential questions about your abortion plan:

1. Is my pregnancy viable?
It’s important to confirm that you are pregnant and that your pregnancy is viable. (You may not know that one in four pregnancies end in miscarriage before 7 weeks.1 You may not need to have an abortion.) The Full Pregnancy Evaluation will tell you what you need to know.
2. Is my pregnancy in the right place?

Our ultrasound evaluation will detect if your pregnancy is inside your uterus.  A pregnancy in the fallopian tubes (known as an ectopic pregnancy) is very dangerous and must be treated immediately. Our pre-abortion ultrasound can rule out the possibility of ectopic pregnancy.

3. How far along am I?

Your gestational age (the number of weeks you’ve been pregnant) determines the cost and type of abortion that you could be eligible for. This information is vital before using an abortion pill.

4. Do I have an STD?
Having any type of abortion with an untreated STD jeopardizes a woman’s health by increasing her risk of infection and other complications.2
Our Full Pregnancy Evaluation will help you make the pregnancy decision that’s right for you.
